California Free Criminal Records

By Ben Kingsley

California is a place that has a large population. That is one reason why it is e tremely difficult for those in law enforcement agencies to guard the safety and security of the people. Fortunately, CA Criminal Records have been made available to the public, by the Department of Justice, to hopefully decrease the chances of the people of getting victimized by law offenders.

If you breakdown a criminal document, you will find that it consists of several documents which includes traffic violations, arrest and police reports, in-mate records, and others. The various documents are originally created where the crime were committed. Once they are finished, they are then sent to the state's central storage of criminal documents which is, again, at the Department of Justice. More often than not, the documents are accessed by people with intentions of running a history check on certain individuals.

Every individual has the right to access criminal records because they are part of public records. An individual may request for his or her own records to check if there are any wrong information. If there are, the proper correction can be made by submitting an appeal to the appropriate office. The Department of Justice is quite strict when it comes to handling requests for records that is not the requestors own. Lawyers and law enforcers are usually the ones given the freedom to access them anytime. If you are neither, you have to have a valid reason why you want the records, just like employers and landlords who use the records to screen their job applicants and applying tenants.

When requesting for a certain criminal file, supply the name of the owner of the file. It is advantageous if you happen to know more information about files because it makes the search process less time-consuming. It also gives you a better shot at locating the right file, especially when it comes to people that have widely used names. When you submit a formal request for criminal files, you need to prepare a fingerprint card. The card is usually produced at a Local Police department that does a Local Live Scan for a $25 fee.

Another way of obtaining the records is through online service providers. There are those that have the consent of the government to maintain and provide the records to anyone who places a request for them. There are a number of service providers online but not all of them are legit. To make sure that you are getting legit information, conduct a background check first. Find out if past and current customers are satisfied with the kind of service and information they are getting. And if you are not sure where to start your search, find a service provider that allows you to do a nationwide search.

There are a lot of valuable details you can get from accessing Police Arrest Records. If you want to get your hands on arrest records, you can head to the Local Police Department or at the County Sheriff's office where they were originally recorded. The respective offices are obliged to record arrests even if it does not lead to imprisonment. And if the arrested person is proven innocent of the charge against him or her, the created arrest records will put away from public access.
