Eight Problems With Public Education Government Should Deal With

By Judy Sullivan

In this era, there are a lot of modern technology and innovations that should have helped this world become a better place. However, imperfections are still rampant and thus causing the system to become flawed. This is perfectly modeled by the schools for the masses. There are lots of problems with public education the government should already have dealt with.

No standard policies. Most of the schools fail to complete the government's target of educating each child because there is no standard policy available for the teachers to follow. There are even issues about the lack of accountability, assessment, proficiency, and infrastructure in a school that makes it more difficult to give attention to the students.

People are also troubled with the fact that this is established in a one-way teaching process. Most of the teachers at the said school cannot meet the basic necessities of each student on the same level. The teachers are then encouraged to make the learning experience more interesting via innovative methods.

It is also a known fact that poor academic performance is a threat at this school. This is especially true to those schools practicing old and outdated agenda during the examinations. This will make the students acquire a limited scope of knowledge. This is the reason why the children shows a poor academic performance.

There is too much violence and students are subjected to peer pressure easily. From an outsider's point of view, children coming from these schools are all delinquents easily employing violence. However, those who are in the school knows that there are those who bully and there are those who get bullied.

The lack of extracurricular activities. This usually leads to the students lacking in motivation. It is better to give the students an outlet for their talent through extracurricular activities focusing on speech, workshops, music, dancing, games, gatherings, or painting. This should improve the child's confidence, self-esteem, and satisfaction.

Learning disabilities. Students suffering from ADHD, physical disabilities, or dyslexia will have a hard time coping with their school work. The teachers cannot give them special attention, considering the normal state of the classroom. They are not given the extra time and lessons they need so they fall behind the other kids considerably.

The authority at the said school will promote a rigid system. The higher authorities have their own designs. There are times that those in the higher posts become easily unresponsive, especially when they are being accosted by parents. On the other hand, the lower level teachers will suck up to the ones in the higher posts so that they can be given privileges despite being at the lower level of the hierarchy.

The students take up bad habits or addiction. This is normal considering that the adults around them take up drugs, alcohol, and smoking. They will just imitate whatever they see the adults do. If they are not given the right attention, they will also fall into the same depravity. This will then cause additional problems with public education.
