The Ultimate Slumber Party

By Elba Fenwick

Chances are if you have children or teens, they probably have asked you to plan a slumber party. Rather than just have kids haul over sleeping bags and eat mounds of chips and popcorn, why not take it up a notch and plan the world's best slumber party? With a bit of advance planning, you can create an amazing party for the kids.

You can select a theme for your party, such as a spa party or a Lego party or simply plan a series of events for the evening. The kids definitely need to have a few planned activities. You might consider having a karaoke contest, setting up a craft table, playing some games and winding down by showing a movie. You can even have the theme of the party center around the movie or vice-versa.

Aside from activities, the kids definitely will be looking forward to some yummy food. One eye-catching main dish might be one of those three-foot-long submarine sandwiches that you can get from your local deli or grocery store. Another fun option would be to set up a buffet of Mexican food staples and have the kids create their own custom tacos, nachos or burritos. A pasta bar is yet another option that might be fun or you could just fire up the grill and offer hamburgers and salads.

A sweet treat is definitely an essential component to the evening and sure, you could bake up a pan of brownies or buy some cookies at the store, but a more interesting option would be to purchase a gourmet treat such as chocolate pizza. Chocolate Pizza Company hand makes these amazing concoctions and can ship them anywhere in the country. They arrive packaged in a real pizza box, and kids can simply break off a chunk of pizza and munch. This is an easy option because you don't have to cook, and the clean-up is a breeze as well.

Chocolate Pizza Company sells many different styles of pizza. The dark and milk chocolate options, which begin with melted chocolate mixed with handmade toffee, can be topped with a drizzle of white chocolate, mixed nuts, candies and more. The white chocolate pizzas are as beautiful as they are tasty, a mix of cranberries, almonds and melted white chocolate. Of course, if you have pizza, you also must have wings, and Chocolate Pizza Company has invented the perfect side to their chocolate pizzas, Peanut Butter Wings. These begin with potato chips and peanut butter, which are blended together. This mixture is then dipped in chocolate; either milk or dark cooled and packed in cute little tubs.

After all the food and fun, it will be time for your guests to settle down and sleep. While there might be more giggling than sleeping, they still need a space reserve for rest. You might need to move furniture around a bit to provide enough floor space, and then you can have the kids set sleeping bags on mats or perhaps even inflatable mattresses. Because the setting is unfamiliar, nightlights are important, but you can make them festive by hanging up some cute string lights or using LED candles.
