Tips On Fixing Home Cement Slabs With Concrete Resurfacing

By Troy Wilkerson

Cement surfaces like floors, driveways, walkways, or sidewalks will begin to crack and develop pits as they get older. These will give your home an aged, worn look. Make your home look new and fresh by fixing these using concrete resurfacing.

It would be quite expensive to replace these cracked and pitted surfaces altogether. Filling the cracks and pits with cement is not the solution. This will look ugly and the new layer you put will crack in just a short time as they are not adhered to the old surface.

Use cement resurfacers to do the job for you. There are surely some that you can buy from your nearest hardware. It is a bit more expensive than cement or mortar but will be able to do the job best. Cement or mortar does not have adhesive agents that can bond the new layer onto the old one. This is why a simple cement or mortar layer laid onto the old will crack and break off.

Cement resurfacers have strong bonding agents so the layer you apply on the old cement surface will adhere to it. This is why it is more expensive. Even so, buying a resurfacer and applying it will come out much cheaper than having to replace the whole cement slab. Overall therefore, this is the cheaper alternative.

It is not difficult to use these products as well. With simple tools, you can use this product yourself. They are self-leveling thus there will not be much work for you in trying to achieve a level surface. Just spread the material evenly on the old surface. The procedure to prepare the material is also quite simple and is clearly stated on the packaging. Just follow them and do the work.

So improve your home with concrete resurfacing. Repair all the ugly cracks and pits on your cement surfaces easily and reliably. It is easy to do and will cost much less as compared to demolishing and making new slabs.
