Diesel Vs. Gasoline

By Darrel Jefferson

Pollution can come in many types. Air pollution, water pollution, and land pollution are among the most common types. Pollution can affect not only the surrounding area but can be harmful for everything living around the pollution. It can be especially harmful for humans as well. Below are some of the worst areas on the planet where pollution has taken over. China and air pollution

Gas Mileage

Not only does it bring fuel economy down but it also increases the price of the vehicle. In a new truck for example, it can cost around $10,000 to get the system. In countries like China and India, trying to stay competitive with cars can be difficult and keeping these kinds of technologies out of your car can greatly decrease the price for your product.

On average, is about 33% more efficient than it's contender and that makes a big difference. The higher efficiency is partly because of the increased torque that comes with a diesel engine. This extra amount of torque equals better acceleration and better fuel economy.

Ulaanbaatar struggle with air pollution as well. The smog in this Mongolian city can completely cover the city. Air pollution has grown because of the increasing amount of cars on the road. This is coupled with all of the coal that is burned to keep the city heated.

Both have their individual strengths and weaknesses. One just got off on the wrong foot with the world and is having trouble overcoming that. So let's see what we can do by debunking some of these evil diesel myths.

Sumgayit, Azerbaijan: pollution from pesticides

People who are looking for a quiet car would most likely be more interested in a regular gasoline vehicle. Gasoline engines are typically quieter. Diesel engines tend to have a lower growl. Many people feel like this growl is loud and obnoxious. This may not necessarily be a disadvantage to all people though. Some people really like how loud the engine is, and love being heard when they are driving around. Also, recent technology has been able to really quiet down diesel engines though.

Because of some of the processes that were used to produce these chemicals and pesticides, lots of harmful chemicals were released into the atmosphere. Azerbaijan has been paying for these mistakes. Now, Cancer rates are among the highest in the world in the city.

If you want to go green, more times than not, gasoline will be your better option. Diesel fuel is a much dirtier fuel than gasoline. Consequently, they burn a lot dirtier and release more emissions. If you have ever seen a diesel truck accelerating quickly, then you have probably seen all the black smoke that comes from the truck. You probably were able to visually see why diesel fuel is dirtier than gasoline.

The biggest dump isn't believed to be on land anymore. It's actually believed to be in the ocean. Lots of litter eventually makes itself into the ocean. It can be dumped off on a river trip and eventually make its way to the ocean.

They won't start in winter. Also false. While it is true that diesel fuel does start to gel up in lower temperatures (starting around 40 degrees), modern technology takes care of that problem. Many vehicles are equipped with special tank heaters (aka glow plugs) or anti-gel solutions that can be mixed with the fuel. These methods, among others, help the fuel vaporize and run just fine in any temperature. Naturally, there are more myths out there that uninformed fanatics will cite, but these three take care of most of the general public's fears. Next time you purchase a car, don't pass by diesel so quickly!
