Information On Welding Baltimore Processes

By Grace Rivas

Welding Baltimore is a common fabrication process mainly used in joining mostly metals. The procedure involves melting the metal at the edge where you intend to add the joining material. This material should be added at the molten state. To ensure you come up with a strong joint, the molten material should be allowed some time to cool down. This method of joining enjoys much popularity given the efficiency and that it is very cost effective. Shared here are various ways to join materials through this process.

To start with, there is SMAW or shielded metal arc welding. This is also commonly known as stick type. The name comes from the rod which is used for joining metals since it resembles a stick. In this method, power is need to create an arc. Once the arc is created, it is used to burn soldering rod or an electrode to weld any metallic part that you want to. This rod is metallic coated with flux. This flux protects the area to be welded from air.

This process is widely used because it is simple and practical. It is also cheap and works well on most of the metals which require being joined. These qualities make it the perfect joining process for most of the industrial building requirements. It is the foundation to learning other types of metal joining processes in most of the institutions where these processes are taught.

Metal Inert Gas is another method also abbreviated as MIG. In this method, an arc is used just like in stick type and is said to be the easiest for learners to pick. In this process, a wire is fed to the joint at the site to be welded. The wire has to be in connection to a power supply for it to be able to produce an arc that melts upon touching the intended joint.

An MIG gun is used in this process to combine electricity, the wire and the shielding gases at once. The gun has a trigger so when pulled the metal joining process automatically starts. MIG method is commonly used in factories which require a high production capacity. It is easy to operate though setting the equipment required can be troubling if you are not experienced.

Tungsten inert gas is one of the most difficult processes to learn among those that produce an arc. It is abbreviated TIG. The good thing with this process is that it very versatile; most convectional metals are joined using this process. You need both hands in this process to effectively weld the joint. This is because you will need to hold a torch and the tungsten rod which is used to produce arc and heat with one hand while the other hand will feed the electrode.

To create an arc in this process, you need a constant current. A filler metal, which is normally in form of a wire is added on the joint. This process produces high quality product. However, this process requires high technology. In addition, equipment used in this process is very expensive besides the fact that it is quite complicated to set up. It comes with a remote amperage foot pedal that argon gas cylinder to work.

Gas type is one of the traditional processes of welding Baltimore. Acetylene and oxygen are the most popular used gases in this process. The flame is created from a burning gas which in turn creates the heat which is used to weld the joint. Most of the automotive joining processes use gas welding because it is versatile and portable.
