Advantages Of Etiquette Lessons For Kids

By Minnie Whitley

Nowadays, people have become more rude. Now, that is no exaggeration. There are people who are so full of themselves that they believe the finest things in life belongs to them. Good social graces have slowly diminished, leaving behind a trail of arguments and misunderstandings of people who do not want to be upstaged by anybody else. Adults have become cruel, and this is basically due to a lack of etiquette lessons for kids.

Etiquette is a set of written or unwritten rules that govern how one should act in society. It had been a trend in Puritan 1500s to teach etiquette in children at school. They were taught a lot of things such as how to behave in a group, how to eat properly, how to address people who are in a superior position, and a lot of other things. While some of these rules are extremely outrageous, most of these have really instilled proper manners that allowed these young kids to grow up in fine ladies and gentlemen.

There are also many kinds of etiquette that guides people in every situation that they find themselves in. There are certain guidelines for when you need to use public utilities like the toilet. There are also for when one is in social functions like receptions and wedding ceremonies. There are also rules to follow when in work, in school or at home.

First and foremost, these etiquette are, and should be, learned first at home. The first few years in the life of an individual is often referred to as the formative years where one starts to form habits. Simple acts of kindness and courtesy should be introduced by parents to their small kids as early as possible so that these values will be deeply ingrained in their personality.

Teaching children how to behave properly is easy to say. It is much harder to do, and one never knows where to start, especially as modern children develop independent thinking as early as possible. They will always try to work things their way and heed their parents less.

As a parent, you have the grave responsibility of raising your child to be a productive citizen who, in the race to the top, does not step on others. Sadly, sometimes even the grown ups forget courtesy and abandon all care, even to the point of pulling someone down just to advance ahead.

Most adults now are workers first, parents second. They spend more time at the office than at home. They think more about all the pending tasks that needs to be done than to think about how their kids are actually doing. To be able to compensate, most just decide to let their offspring take etiquette sessions.

Sending your children to learn manners are very beneficial for his well being. Most classes are categorized by age brackets, so your kids will learn to interact with other kids his age. These can be joined by kids as young as seven years old up to the teenagers. During these sessions they will learn to develop the values of respect and courtesy for other beings and their properties. They will also learn how to speak and act their age anytime, anywhere.

Soon, you will see an improvement in the way your child interacts with others. These sessions help cure rude behavior by instilling replacement behavior that are much more acceptable. A well mannered child will grow up to be a responsible adult.
