A Summary Of Natural Head Lice Treatment

By Miranda Sweeney

If one of the children in a household has been diagnosed with lice, the adults will have to be as proactive as they possibly can. In fact, most people will want to avoid harsh prescriptions that can perhaps make the situation worse. By using a natural head lice treatment, men and women can cure the condition and ensure that it does not come back.

Infestations can occur in several different ways. In most instances, the children will have picked up the parasite from someone at school. Light infestations of only a few egg masses can be attacked aggressively and eradicated within a few days. Heavier infestations will usually take a few weeks to completely get rid of without any outstanding problems.

A comb will come in handy when people are trying to combat the critters. As long as the comb has some small teeth, it can be used to pick out the adults and the eggs. As long a the comb is thoroughly washed with soap and warm water after each time it is used, it should work. The eggs can be washed down the drain and sent to their demise.

Olive oil can often be used to kill the eggs. The oil produces certain compounds that will eliminate the protective barrier around the eggs so that they are destroyed. A few tablespoons is all that will be needed. The oil should be allowed to soak into the scalp for a few minutes. Afterward, the hair can be washed with a strong shampoo.

Mouthwash is similarly effective on most people. The product is alcohol based and is thus pretty pungent. Many individuals mix it with vinegar to create an acidic cocktail that will be highly effective against each and every louse. A little bit of mouthwash will go a long ways, and parents will not need to use much when adding it to their kids' heads.

Parents will want to monitor the condition of their kids so that they can ensure that the condition is improving somewhat. If it appears that one technique is not working, they can simply move on to a another method. Finding a good technique might take a few tries, but it will be well worth the extra effort for all involved.

Once the condition has improved, kids will be able to go back to school. Although they might miss a few weeks of classes, this is for the best. By waiting until the infestation has involved, parents will ensure that their children do not affect anyone else in the classroom. This will be in keeping with the policies of most schools and should not be hard to follow.

In the end, finding a good plan of action does not have to be difficult. By using organic methods, people can get rid of the lice in a stern manner. A variety of household products can be brought to bear on the situation. The children themselves will appreciate the effort and will soon be free of the condition.
