The Advantage Of Slope Stabilization

By Monique Potts

There is an extravagant significance in creating roadways in a mountainous area. Aside from the fact that there has to be a way where people can pass through when they go hiking or touring, it also speaks about avoiding danger. Though the trees in the mountains can hold the soil together, there are still other factors which contribute to the cause of accidents and unfortunate incidents in these areas.

Taking this into consideration, the mountain is not a place to play around since there are steep slopes and cliffs everywhere. At times, due to certain factors and mistakes done by people, accidents happen. Given this, there really has to be some step done such as a slope stabilization project to keep the problem away and to keep anybody who can possibly be a victim safe.

This endeavor was actually designed to cater to many reasons. One is to create a space for road template or a driving surface. There is basically, no easier way to climb up the mountain safely and comfortably but to create a roadway for a vehicle to pass through. This way, those who have a transaction up the hill can just travel safely and easily.

Another important purpose for this project is to balance material between the cut and fill. Basically, the endeavor of creating a road side would not be as easy as cutting trees and flattening a roadway. According to some engineering ideas, there has to be cutting and filling in order to create balance in the road way. This idea is somehow similar to what is done in reclamation sites.

Another purpose of this kind of procedure is to reinforce the weak parts of the mountain. Basically, landslides happen because there are parts which does not have a strong hold or are simply not compact. Now, with this stabilization procedure, the soil is given a reinforcement. So with this, there would not be any calamity and accidents that will happen on the roadway anymore.

This way, landslides would be avoided and so do sudden accidents. That aside, soil erosion can also be kept to the minimum since the stabilization can keep sediments from being eroded. So if there happens to have shakings or heavy rain, the soil can hold out firmly. With this, there would no longer be a requirement for major repairs. So this way, road maintenance could be avoided.

But with the stabilization of the slope, these long term costs would go away. Yes, this engagement would indeed need a large amount of money to get started or be accomplished. But this idea is practically better than cutting the mountain to create a passage. After all, they would have the same expense anyway. Furthermore, stabilizing the slope is much better and safer too.

Speaking of this, engineers actually use several types of stabilization for this project. Each type has its own way of showing support for the matter as well. That is why very much thanks to them, the dangers on the mountain areas are kept away. Other than that, it also gives benefit to both the people who visit there for transaction, and the people down the slopes.

Because of them, there are already decent pathways where vehicles can pass through. With this, people would not find it hard to conduct whatever affair they need in the mountain. But most of all, thanks to this endeavor calamities and accidents are avoided and the people are able to acquire benefits as well.
