How To Increase Your Escondido Home Security

By Mark Mahaffey

As a homeowner, you probably are aware that keeping your home safe from the threat of crime is one of the smartest things you can do. Just ask anyone who has suffered from the stress of having their home broken into. They will likely tell you that not only does a home invasion cause loss of valuables and damage to the home, but it also makes a person feel very vulnerable.

You will be glad to know, however, that there are some easy things you can do to start increasing your Escondido home security. Would you like to stop living in fear of a home invasion? If so, consider implementing some of the tips in this article.

First, let's think about your landscaping. While large bushes up next to you home are attractive, they make your home look quite inviting to burglars. What about your trees? If their branches are near the windows of the upper floor of your home, you are in danger.

Why? Because those bushes make your home very tempting to burglars. They can hide behind them while they are breaking in. It gives them a 'safe' place to do their dirty work. Likewise, tree limbs that are close to upstairs windows can make it possible for crooks to get into your home by climbing the tree and breaking the windows.

The solution is not difficult. Just reduce the size of your bushes. Ask a landscaping company to come out and trim them back, so there is less space for a criminal to hide. Also, cut back some of the tree limbs that are close to the upstairs windows.

The lighting around your home is also a very important part of having great Escondido home security. Just as criminals like to hide behind large plants, they also like to do their work in the darkness. So, if the exterior of your house is dark, crooks will be drawn to it. The solution is to install security lights and shine them on the front, back and sides of your home.
