Turn To A Qualified Medical Massage Expert

By Kyle Barnes

Sometimes, pain relief couldn't come soon enough. Medical massage is also known as treatment message or clinical massage. It is used to treat specific problems that the patient has. They are diagnosed and then after a thorough evaluation and assessment will be administered to by a therapist.

Massage is the manipulation of the shallow and deep layers of connective tissue and muscles using different techniques. This is to aid in the healing process, enhance function, promote relaxation and well being as well as decreasing muscle reflex activities. The word comes from the French meaning "friction of kneading" as well as from Arabic "to touch, feel or handle".

It is a group of symptoms and not a diagnosis of what is irritating the nerve and the symptoms can be different depending on the levels of pain and underlying causes. This pain is often described as starting in the lower back and travelling down the leg. The main cause is the pressure that is on the disc and the surrounding tissue that begins to swell.

There are a number of different kinds of therapies available and each is for a specific purpose. The deep tissue massage is used to work on tight muscles and to help restore suppleness through slow strokes and deep pressure. This technique is used on muscles as well as connective tissue which help to free persistent tension mainly due to overuse or injury.

The history of this therapy has been found in the ancient civilizations which include Greece, Korea, Egypt as well as China and Rome. Charaka Samhita believed that the practice started in India long before the actual beginnings of recorded history. In 581 AD a doctor introduced about ten new techniques that aided in the treatment of childhood diseases using this therapy.

When one is standing the lower back is supporting the full weight of the upper body. We normally bend, rotate at the waist and extend many times during the day and if one moves wrong it will cause back pain. This damage is done to the ligaments, muscles, tendons as well as the bony spine. One method of treatment for this specific injury is to have an epidural steroid injection as well as having a massage to relieve the muscle tension in the area.

Some other methods may include acupressure which is a traditional Chinese medicine. It has been used there for thousands of years and during the second half of the twentieth century began to spread to other parts of the world. It involves inserting really thin needles directly into certain parts of the body. They can get inserted at varying depths and will help with pain relief. In some instances it is believed to reduce the feeling of nausea when having chemotherapy.

Medical massages done in Japan are called Anma and also involves vigorous rubbing, shaking and kneading. It is thought to have come from China and only began about 710 CE. This technique was practiced in hospitals that were sponsored by the government.
