Every basketball player would love to become a better shooter, but it is easier said than done. Shooting a basketball well requires great skill and of course lots of practice. But first, in order to practice right a dedicated basketball player must learn proper shooting techniques in order to become better.



When shooting, a player needs to have good follow through on the ball. Again, this often does not come naturally, so it requires consistent practice. Practice really does make perfect. Implement a variety of drills with your team, and over time, you should see quite a bit of skill improvement.

Learning the proper basketball shooting techniques are much simpler today because there is a lot of quality information out there. From professionals to coaches to watching analysts on television, anyone can pick up good ideas on how to become a much better shooter. Simply by watching the professionals you can see the type of form they use when going up for a jump shot. Take that knowledge with you the next time you're at the gym and practice!

Good shooters today are hard to find because it seems like most players just want to take it to the rim. But, in order to be effective at driving to the basket, a good player must have good fake moves. A quick jab step forward then fade back is a good way to get off your shot. This specific basketball move should be practiced so the shooter can be effective at creating separation between himself and the defensive player.

Realize the aids and drills that you use should reflect your own strengths and training philosophy, while also mimicking the plays that you will encounter on the basketball court.
