Ways To Tame Your Mane With Cute Ponytail Holders

By Janine Hughes

There are so many different things that you can do with your hair. One of the easiest ways to customize your look to match your personality is to use cute ponytail holders in different ways. There are a few different things that you need to consider when deciding to use these accessories and if you do, it will be much easier to get a style that you are happy with.

Of course, your own personal style is the best place to start when deciding which to buy. You need to think about if you are more casual. The accessories you choose might be different than if your style is very sleek or formal. For people with fun, outrageous personal style, there are so many fun items to choose from. Most are so affordable that you can even work a bit outside your comfort zone if you want to make a bit of a change.

Not all hair is created equal. Neither are hair accessories. The style of accessory you choose is really going to depend on how long your hair is, how thick it is, and even what its' texture is. If you are trying to cram too much hair into a ponytail holder that is too small, you may find that it breaks or that the style doesn't look the way its supposed to. It can be frustrating but you may need to try several different styles or varieties to find one that will work best for you.

Although most people think about just tying their hair back in a single ponytail or braid, there are ways to jazz up even these simple styles. You may want to think about using multiple elastics. You may also want to think about where you position your hair on your head. If you are using more than one band, it can be fun to switch out the colors for a rainbow effect.

It's a good idea to look for durable elastics or holders that are really well made. Thin elastics or products that are poorly made may break while you are trying to style your hair. They may also stretch out very quickly. This may mean that you have to twist them more or that they may become unusable.

You shouldn't feel that your options are limited to elastics. There are some exciting styles that use clips or barrettes as well. Some solid metal holders will snap shut and keep your hair nicely in place even if you are having a very active day. Keep in mind that not all clips will work for your hair as well. Just like with elastics, they can end up being too large or too small for the hair that you have.

Don't be afraid to do some research before you go shopping. You can look at specific hair styles. By looking ahead of time you can be sure to get the right kind of accessory for the look you want. Places to look for holders include salons, department stores and drug stores. Dollar stores will usually have some for sale as well although you should make sure that they are well made. Otherwise you can end up frustrated and with a hairstyle that just won't work.

Many people look in style magazines and see pricy designer items. While these can look fantastic, they may be quite expensive. Having a designer accessory can be a fun way to wear a brand name, but if you want functionality you might want to think again. Then, you can get the look you want using the cute accessories that are available today.
