Finding A Good Quality Probability And Statistics Textbook

By Earlene McGee

Having the right resource materials for studying is just as important as listening to a mentor, teaching you something. Resources serve as complements to the things we learn in class. It also guides us to the related topics about the current one that we are taking. In case we miss a lesson, its the resource tools that we have that can help us stay on track.

Now that we can all purchase books online, we may feel like we do not need to filter them out. Keep in mind that other learning tools like cds are also present. Looking for books like the Probability and Statistics textbook requires more than just random look. What you need should come first.

But just because a book has the same topic does not mean that they are already good picks. The principles may be the same but the approach and the tone on how it is written can be different. Looking for the appropriate one also requires you to look into factors such as the ease that it gives you. Below are among the top things to look into.

Author. For a topic as technical as Statistics, it is only natural to have an author who has a profound knowledge on the field. He could go come from the academe or be on a field that applies statistics on the job itself. A reliable book should be written by someone who is a veteran on the field and not just anybody.

Book content. Next thing you need to consider is the content of the material. Browse through the table of contents and cross reference it to the module that you have in class. A good resource should contain most, if not all, of the things that you need for your study.

Price of the material. By going online or visiting local shops, you will get and idea of the standard pricing of the material. Take time to visit several retailers and list down the price offer that they have for a specific book. This is the best avenue for you to check who is offering the most affordable item. If you can gain access to a second hand onem, the better.

Worksheets. This is optional but will matter a lot if you are planning on solving activities and trying out exercises on the books. Take a look at the type of activities that they have and see if its what you need.

Online reviews. Once you start browsing online for resource materials that you can buy, might as well check some threads and reviews on some books that you are looking at. Some sites have this star rating mechanism to give an idea to buyers as to the general rating of the book. This is also the perfec time for you to read feedback from other people.

Spend your money wisely by making sure that the material you buy is worth it. Remember that there are free sources available on libraries. If you spend, make sure that it counts. Spend some time browsing through recommendations.
