How To Be Yourself

By Evan Sanders

Admit it, the pressure is astronomical.

When you feel like you have to be someone you are not, to act in a different way than what your soul wants you to act like and dress according to standard things can feel pretty off inside. You stop being yourself and you end up being this image of what you "think you should be."

That's society for you.

However, there's a very different way to live your life.

When you decide to drop the act of being someone else and open up to being exactly who you are you give yourself the ability to become something completely different. You actually become the person you were always meant to be.

Wouldn't that be amazing?

The more you open yourself up to the world and become yourself the more you will feel the gravity of this pull trying to bring you back into the middle. The rest of the world, as much as they admire people who are "different" doesn't actually want you to stand out. They want you to be exactly like them because then they won't feel so bad about themselves. Do it anyways.

If you're willing to step out into the spotlight and be different than everyone else, there are going to be significant forces at play to make you doubt yourself. Don't listen to the critic inside or the critic outside trying to bring you down. Instead, listen to that wise voice inside of you egging you on to be the person you know you can be.

Follow what makes you jump out of bed in the morning. Follow what makes your heart light up. Those positive feelings will never send you in the wrong direction. They might send you into very challenging scenarios, but that is what comes with the territory. You need to be willing to seek that resistance and understand that once it shows up, you are in the right place.

Be different. Be courageous.

Chase your dreams. Be different. Go out into the world and make an impact. Give people the courage to do the same. Be a light for others when all they can see is darkness.
