Manhattan NY Hardwood Floor Inlays Add Beauty To Any Space

By Malinda Klosterman

Hardwood floor inlays can be seen in all their glory in older mansions. Installing floors with exquisite inlay patterns took patience, a lot of time, good hand-eye coordination, and a lot of money. Today, precision and laser mechanical cutting devices combined with computer aided design have dramatically brought the cost of these floors down.

It is possible to install these products into existing wooden flooring. They are often made from different types of wood such as Curly or Quilted Maple, Ebony, Honduran Mahogany, and Brazilian Cherry. Of all the exotic species from which one may choose, the pieces are rarely more than 5/16" thick, and even thinner slices are available for adding to other floors.

There are multiple styles available.

Borders come in a multitude of variations that can add an astonishing effect to wooden flooring. They have the ability to transform simple layouts, intricate designs, or parquet into something unique and individually artistic.

An entry hall can be magically transformed with the addition of medallions, which come in a range of styles, sizes, and looks. Imagine the impact a 4' diameter compass rose or customized dolphin will have on guests. One may even generate an air of a classically Renaissance castle or stunning Venetian palace. In general, a medallion will be about one third the total width of the room.

Corner border accents - Think of a white or red rose in each corner of the room - or a compass, heart, diamond, or geometric pattern.

Parquet flooring - Instead of hardwood slats laid down side by side, Manhattan NY hardwood floor inlays use smaller sections of wood that are arranged like a mosaic in decorative patterns. Parquet patterns are angular or geometrical, with the most favored pattern being herringbone.

Using these inlaid products to enhance flooring space, is a decision one will cherish for years. They bring a bit of class, sophistication, and glamour to any area within a home.
