The Ins And Outs Of Standard Water Heater Replacement From Las Vegas NV Plumbing Services

By Clinton Arnhold

You like hot showers. You don't want to use ice water. You need to know how to repair and replace your water heater.

You're not a handy man or handy woman. You work in a cubicle. When you learn that your water heater is on the fritz, you panic. You don't know what to do. Can you fix it yourself? How? What can you do?

Start by taking a nice, deep breath. It is okay to cry a bit as well. Are you feeling any better? Good. Now you have to get to work. You will need to identify the source of the problem before anything can be fixed. Standard water heaters are comprised of large tanks that typically range between 30 and 60 gallon capacities, along with a cold water intake pipe, a drain valve, and an additional pipe for letting hot water flow out.

Common water heater problems include water that is warm, but isn't as hot as you would like, no hot water at all, or smelly, discolored water coming out of your faucets and showers. One simple solution is to crank up the heat on your water heater.

The heater temperature can be manually increased, but do take care when doing this. You certainly want to avoid cranking the setting too high. If there's no heat and your water is coming out ice cold, the problem is probably a mechanical one that will require new parts or even a total system replacement. If the system smells bad, think about draining it and then cleaning it with an appropriate solution. If there is still an odor after you have already done this, you should seek some professional assistance.

Although a water heater can be quite complex, there are still a few things that might help. For instance, you can drain the unit, alter its temperature, clean it and attempt to resolve a few, basic issues. When everything else fails, have a plumber come and tackle the job for you.
