By Eric Morris

If you are looking to raise the value or improve the appearance of your home, it may be time for you to consider hiring a professional painter. Sure, you could paint your home yourself, but you will not be able to produce the same level of high quality results that a professional painter can produce. Professional painters Oregon literally paint for a living, so when you hire a pro, you can be sure you will get quality work. You know you should hire a professional to paint your house, but where do you find one in your town?

Word of mouth- Getting a reference from friends or neighbors is always one of the reliable ways for choosing a house painter. It is also one of the most cost-effective ways for a painter to generate new business, so it is always in his / her best interest to deliver quality work at a reasonable price with a willingness to stand behind their work and a track record of doing so.

You know, the internet is a great information resource, and It makes the research, comparison-shopping, and insisting on written terms to protect yourself in the event of a major problem(s) even easier and much less time to consume than letting your fingers do the walking through the yellow pages.

An A+ rating is a company with no unresolved complaints or issues and has been in business for at least seven years. And A rating is a company with no unresolved complaints with less than seven years. Keep in mind that companies do get complaints and some are from customers that have unrealistic expectations or are constantly filing complaints about the attention. As long as the company has resolved the issue in the eyes of the BBB, you should have no concerns. In most cases, a reputable company will have resolved a customer complaint well before it reaches the BBB.

Ask for references and don't be afraid to go see their work. Many painters have photo albums to show case their work. Get at least two or three references of satisfied customers from the painting contractor and then the easiest way to see his work is to ask them to provide some before and after pictures of the houses that they represent these satisfied customers.

Painter Directories- Directories are found in just about every industry, including the paint industry. When searching for a painter, check the industry-specific directories for ratings and testimonials. Most directories are local, so you should not have to filter through a bunch of contractors who live far away from you.

Check for Insurance- It is always a better option to select a painter who possesses an insurance policy. If you have decided an expert then just don't disregard to confirm his worker's compensation and accountability of his insurance documents. As it is always a good idea to take preventative measures instead of paying for it later.

Reason and reality check guarantees have their limitations! A good painter is always glad to stand behind his warranty, no Questions asked. Good painters use quality materials, hire excellent workers, know their level of expertise (and limitations); they won't promise you things beyond their level of expertise. If a painter doesn't offer you a written two to three-year warranty, you may want to look one who does.
