By Ronald Barnes

Private investigators are individuals who are hired by someone or groups and do investigatory law works. Those with specialized practical and academic experience help lawyers also to find evidences and in investigating things in civil cases and criminal cases. Investors ask them also to perform due diligence before committing on an investment which is very risky.

If becoming one is what you want then some things you must do are different depending on which state you are from. The Florida licensed PI includes carrying Class C license for those who wants to become a private investigator fully and managerial position on these agencies need Class MA or M. These are the requirements, qualifications and how to become one.

Basic qualifications must be met starting with being a legal resident or citizen of US and aged at least eighteen years old. You should not have any history of mental illness, illegal drug use, alcoholism and any disqualifying crime. Two years of relevant experience is also required which can be obtained by becoming an intern on an agency.

Because having an experience for two years first is a requirement then most applicants are applying for internship. Class CC license is required for this by undergoing professional training for forty hours which first should be completed. Diplomas are given out by schools offering this training program to those who completed them and others take college degrees for furthering their career chances.

One year of the two year experience required could be substituted by a year of college coursework in criminal justice, criminology or law enforcement. Firearms training for 28 hours is needed for those who have to carry concealed firearms. After this then you can start being an intern of a licensed PI from Florida and fulfill your requirements.

Take the state examination testing your knowledge regarding legal responsibilities and business practices on being a PI. There are eight licensing offices all over the state which can be called to have your appointment for examination set. The exam would usually take two hours and the results would be known after two weeks and sometimes more.

Class C licensure could be appllied for then after the examination has been passed by submitting a completed form with an attached recent photo of you. Documents confirming you completed every requirements necessary should be completed such as your exam score, training and internship. Include a set of fingerprints also and the payment for their fees.

If you think carrying a concealed weapon is needed in doing your job well then apply for a Class G license which is statewide. This includes certificate that shows mandatory firearms instruction, health certificate, your photograph and fingerprint information. Though if this is done together with your PI licensing application then one set of fingerprints is only needed.

When you are done with your application and have become a professional licensed PI officially then start working. Renew your license every two years and this can be done and paid for online. Join professional organizations to have more networking opportunities.
