This would depend on the type you bought though but usually it could be adjusted by using an Allen key at the shoulder bracket. Clockwise turn would raise it while counterclockwise turn will lower it so make sure the same adjustment is made in both brackets.
Cleaning the fabric could be done monthly by brushing off the loose dirt using a broom including its underside. Then hose down and rinse it with water to prevent dirt from getting embedded in it and let it dry before retracting it.
