Why Self Leveling Floors NYC Work Well In A Laundry Room

By Kimberly Adams

When decorating a laundry room, there are several functionality factors that are brought into question. Some people struggle with deciding what type of flooring to use in a laundry room. Self leveling floors NYC tiles are a great idea for functionality and design quality in any laundry area.

Self-leveling concrete solves all sorts of issues that often come up with cement flooring. If the surface is damaged, cracked, chipped, or uneven this treatment can be applied from a quarter up to one inch thick to meet precise specifications. This also solves many issues that come up around doorways, fixtures, and adjacent floors that may be at a slightly different height. It's also a good choice for spaces with multiple posts, small alcoves, and narrow spaces.

This concrete is very wet and flows over the floor to create an even surface. Then you use a tool, called a Smoother, which has a flat edge attached to a pole, to smooth out the concrete by pulling it over the surface. The process is amazingly fast. You could resurface the floor of a full house in less than two hours using this type of concrete.

Using solo-adhesive floor tiles can be a great option for any laundry spot. It helps to eliminate the wear and tear caused by most laundry room floors. When it comes time to actually replace the floor, using solo-adhesive tiles is inexpensive and easy. It is especially good for those rooms that are also used as an entryway and experience a lot of foot traffic.

The final step in applying color to the concrete is to apply a water-based concrete dye over the surface of the floor. You can do this by spraying on the dye and then evening it out suing a large microfibre mop. This will dry overnight, and then you apply two coats of sealant and then finish to give you a perfect floor that will look beautiful in any room of your home.

Mortar beds have long been used to create a level surface. The solo-flattening concrete underlayment (SLU) have grown in popularity over the last 10-15 years. The advances in polymer concrete technology have lead to modern day solo-flattening concrete. It is a good way to get a flat floor without needing to dramatically impact the floor elevation.

Installing Self-Adhesive Vinyl Tile- Once your guide lines are set, you can start installing vinyl tiles. Peel the paper backing from a self-stick vinyl tile, place it in the center starting point and press it into place.

The installation of SLU is less labor intensive and less tiring. It gives the mosaic installation its best chance of success. The durability of SLU is another big reason for its growing popularity. Also, for buildings where floor weight is an issue, self-leveling concrete underlayment is a great solution since they help reduce the overall weight of the floor compared to mortar beds.
