When it comes to psychiatric or psychological treatment, there are often a number options and opinions. In most cases, individuals seeking psychiatric treatment have some type of disability which effects the brain. Whereas, those seeking psychological treatment are doing so because of various events which have been a set back in life. While most of these areas share similar goals when it comes to clients, not all are the same. For, each has a unique way of working with individuals to obtain insight into the psyche or unconscious of the individual. After which, many individuals have been able to make better decisions which can work to free the mind and allow the individual to move forward.

One of the biggest differences between psychotherapy and psychoanalysis is the time a client spends in therapy. For, in psychotherapy, the individual often meets with a therapist once or twice a month. Whereas, when it comes to clients of psychoanalysts, these individuals often attend sessions three to five times a week.

As for the type of individuals whom can benefit from psychoanalysis. These include, problems such as compulsive disorders in which the individual repeats specific actions on an ongoing or repetitive basis. Whereas, there are other individuals whom simply want to understand why choices have often been negative rather than positive. For example, those whom have consistently attempted to eliminate negative habits, though never being able to do so.

In most cases, individuals visit a psychoanalyst when dealing with a hidden and underlying issue. While this is the case, there are also psychotherapists who can work with these individuals. Whereas, individuals suffering from an inescapable brain defect whom are prone to violence are often going to benefit more from psychoanalysis. Whatever the case, these professionals work to improve the behavior and psyche of individuals experiencing these and other issues.

In other cases, individuals can often become lethargic or withdrawn without knowing why. When this is the case, visiting a psychoanalysis can often provide insight into the psyche and illuminate the reason behind these issues. For, these professionals often go through five or more years of training in order to learn how to best understand and treat issues in the subconscious which can effect pathological and normal development. As a result, most have more insight into the psyche and unconscious of clients than others working in the field.
