At that point, the management may have the space opened and whatever belongings that are found in there are sold to recover the amount owed.

The law allows selling of items belonging to the tenant. Normally, the contract signed at the beginning has a clause that gives the management the authority of accessing the space and selling personal belongings. In such case, the tenant does not have any legal recourse. The tenant is given a certain period before this step is executed. Selling of personal belongings is the last option which terminates the lease besides rendering it null and void.
