How To Effective Teach Your Dog New Tricks

By Karen Parker

Household animal companions have been around since the early civilizations. They are adorable and cute and are often the first line of defense against home intrusions. It is rare for a household to have no pets. Children like to play with them and in a way, they are part of an extended family. The most common of these are dogs. If you have one you can have it trained at Dog Training Tampa.

There is really no historical reference that will show when dogs became domesticated. But there is a tall tale about how this critter came to be mans best friend. The story tells of a creature that got injured in a dogfight and was left by the rest of the pack. This somehow managed to survive and found itself on a mans doorstep. This was handed some food scraps and from then on, stuck with a man.

This animal has so many breeds and is often crossbred. This has resulted in some very exotic breeds like the chow chow and the Shih Tzu. The smallest breed is the Chihuahua which is no larger than an ordinary cat. The largest is a great Dane can come close to the size of a donkey. Some are working dogs and some are just for fun like toy poodles.

There are several competitions which involve these animals. Most of it relates to command and control tests like hurdling obstacles and catching and retrieval of an object in water and on the air. Some shows also feature pageant like contests where looks and grooming are judged. This is really difficult because of the different breeds and discriminating one over the other is not a good idea.

Dogs are especially loyal to its master. There are times when it grieves at the passing of one and may even stay on the graveyard waiting for its master to wake up. Dogs in some ways know how to mimic and please humans. They can be trained to do things regardless of what breed they are. Very basic training includes how to make them sit, stand, roll, and retrieve items.

As a human companion dogs like daily routines. This first thing to enforce is letting them know who is the master of the house. The first basic thing to do is to have them learn not to poo in the house. This can be done with leash training. That is bringing the dog outside the house at least three to four times a day until it becomes a habit.

Another daily activity that will form into a habit is taking the dog for a walk in the early morning at absolutely the same time. Dogs can be conscious of time according to studies made by experts. They recognize differences in time intervals of more than fifteen minutes. If you are late in waking your dog, forget it. You will be doing tag team with it.

Home invaders are very wary of dogs. They can maim and kill. It is the most basic security system of homes. Their bark alone can make a person run like a hell, afraid of being chased. Police and army forces around the world have jobs for them. They are very excellent sniffers and can detect even slight traces of illegal substances. Army personnel use them as guards in their camps.

These are cute and adorable creatures regardless of their size. It has been a puzzle to scientists though why the big ones tend to be more gentle and obedient. The smaller ones are sometimes temperamental and scurry around the house like crazy. They are more difficult to control but are easier to maintain since they only eat very little.
