Useful Information Regarding Canadian Movers

By Anna Jackson

Moving is a simple activity, but it can be complex at the same time. Millions of US citizens move their belongings from one place to another every year. These moves entail payment of billions of dollars and millions of transactions. It is fortunate that most of these transactions go on without any problem. However, there are a few transactions that end with the client being utterly disappointed. This is what Canadian movers are all about.

In the US, the Federal Motor Carrier and Safety Administration has papered the rights of the public in dealing with those courier companies in a booklet. The booklet is intended to enable members of the public comprehend their rights partaking the moving transactions. The law states that it a requirement for the moving company to provide the client with a copy of these rights prior to work commencing.

When customers understand their rights during these dealings, the possibilities of being conned are highly reduced. Before one hires a company, they are advised to speak to various companies to attain several quotes. A basis for making sound decisions and comparison is provided by these quotes. Apart from hiring companies that provide quality services, it also important to get lower prices.

Any company that one intends to work with should be able to provide a detailed estimate of the charges. The estimate should be in writing just like any other agreements between the two parties. Companies that refuse to provide written estimates should be removed from consideration. The cost of the move is usually determined by several factors such as actual weight of belongings that need to be moved.

For companies that do not inspect client belongings in need of transit they provide quotas that ate highly inaccurate and unreliable. For a belonging that is in transit, its quote accuracy is dependent on the physical inspection. In more cases than one, majority of companies deploy a representative to conduct a home and belongings inspection prior to moving. This is to help draw up the total charges.

It is required by the law for a moving company to examine the possessions before giving quotes. These requirements are only held when the customer lives within a radius of 50 miles from the offices of the company agent or moving company. The requirements can be ignored by the client because it is their right. However, upon doing this, one should also sign an agreement that is written that states they have chosen to ignore their rights.

Most movers these days do not have warehouses and trucks like traditional movers do. Instead, they operate on an affiliate program. What these movers do is that they collect a deposit fee from the client and then make arrangements to have the move made by a real moving company. Thus, the first mover acts as a broker between the real moving companies and clients.

Brokers charge exaggerated prices to clients and then pocket the extra amount to earn a living. There are different levels of brokers. In some cases, low-end brokers work alongside companies either unregistered or not licensed. As such, a client faces the risk of property loss. One is thus advised against brokers when seeking a professional company to move goods.
