By Troy Wilkerson

If you wish to have a nice looking but durable porch in your house, you might want to check out some concrete patios. Cement is easy to work with and is quite versatile. It is inexpensive and affordable as compared to other building materials. You can also play around with textures and colors.

You can also be more environmentally friendly with this type of patio floor since you will not need wood that requires cutting trees.

Cement is easy to maintain unlike wood which requires meticulous cleaning and maintenance. Wooden floors need to be treated to prevent termite infestation. They also need to be stained according to your preferred shade. Afterwards the surface will have to be polished and sealed to protect it from deterioration.

Once wood deteriorates, it will have to be replaced with new planks. Cement is durable and can last several decades. It makes a tough surface and does not require too much maintenance. It can resist stains, can repel liquid, and won't require to be replaced like wood that can warp or sustain water damage.

With cement, you can have a floor that looks like marble or granite. The surface can be smooth or rough. Even hotel lobbies use cement that look like granite or marble flooring. It can appear formal or rustic for outdoor venues like porches and verandas. This is a versatile material that comes in many colors and designs.

Concrete patios are perfect for exterior floors due to its durability, versatility and ability to withstand elements of the weather which most outdoor surfaces are subjected to. Cement will not be damaged by moisture or heat from the sun. It can withstand rain and snow and likewise take the abuse of heavy foot traffic.
